This is one of the best ice cream and chocolate around. To include the location and the super nice employees with great service. We had a lunch meeting and had to finish out the meeting with dessert. Yummy!

Recommended by a friend, went at night and there was a huge line because of how popular it is, waited already 15-20 minutes but it was worth it, had the saltwater caramel ice cream. They had allot of novelty items around to entertain you while you wait, the staff was quick as they can be and nice, didn't have a sitting area but decided to walk on the beach being it's close. Going back you should too

Well I have been to Kilwin's for the last time. I just will no longer be disappointed and overcharged for the privilege! I told myself that after the last experience, that I wouldn't be going back. But, gave it one more shot, and now I know that I WILL NEVER GO BACK !!! The ice cream, chocolates, fudge, candy, etc. are all ok. Just nothing extra special. But, the price, now that is extra special!!!! The previous visit we were five, four adults and a four year old. Three "specialty" ice cream cones and a kids cup were $34 !!!!! Absolutely unbelievable!!! Last night we were in the area and decided to just go in for a couple of chocolates for after dinner. Two small milk chocolate covered cashew clusters each and we were out of there for a mere $9 !!! LMFAO They were alright. But, for the price should have been fantastic, or more than four pieces!! If the cost was made up for in service, that would be one thing. But, the same rude early 20s male working the counter will never understand customer service, and he acted like he was the manager or owner. NEVER AGAIN !!!! Skip it at all costs!!! Or go and pay ALL COSTS!!! There are far better options and way better treatment!!!

This is place is good. BUT .. It's overpriced!! super overpriced. I dont mind paying money for things that taste good ( I understand that's how things usually work) However, I went in to kilwins with my bf last weekend . He got a piece of fudge (about 9.00) and I got 2 scoops of ice cream in a cup with sprinkles.. our total was 19$ ! I'm sorry but 9$ for 2 scoops of ice cream is a little ridiculous. In their defense the scoops were a generous size, ( I didn't even finish them which kinda made me more angry) . But yeah, not really worth it. As I was walking out I noticed these wonderful looking chocolate covered strawberries, but they were 22$ for a pound - expensive. The service is good and the place does have basically anything and everything you can imagine dipped in chocolate, and everything you need to satisfy a sweet tooth... with a high price tag

Pretty good treats and ice cream. However the place looks like a thrift store or a pack rats nest. It's like a bad episode of hoarders. Clean up the place and bring back its charm of an old school Candy store. Keep your football memorabilia at home.

I looooove ice cream & I loooooove coconut. So it was a no brainer to have the Toasted Coconut Ice Cream. At first I was a bit hesitant as I saw it had bits of chocolate (that looks like chocolate sprinkles) mixed in the ice cream. But what the heck, I went with it anyway. Very creamy and rich, you can really taste the coconut and the chocolate adds some texture to the ice cream. The toasted coconut is actually inside the chocolate, so yes, those are chocolate covered toasted coconut flakes mixed with the coconut ice cream!

The owner is a Michigan man, which is evident as soon as you walk in the door and is was a warm greeting for a fellow Wolverine. But what really grabbed my attention was the intoxicating smell of fresh baked desserts. The homemade chocolate selection was vast, and the item I decided on did not disappoint. The Milk Chocolate covered Oreo w/ caramel made a guilty pleasure store bought cookie a gourmet top notch treat. There is also a full ice cream selection with cones, shakes and sundaes as options. And plenty of toys for the little ones. Had to take off one star because they are on the pricey side, but we will be returning to try more treats.

Came to Ft. Lauderdale for vacation and followed my nose to this place. Although it is a little pricey, I could not help but treat myself to the caramel, chocolate, and pecan covered apple on more than one occasion when I was in the area.

Fantastic. We come to Ft. lauderdale by the Sea every year and I come at least 3 times during our trip to get ice cream here. The salted Carmel is to die for. Besides ice cream they have candy , fudge and carmel apples. Everything is high quality and worth the price! Best ice cream in the downtown area, don't waste you time trying the other across the street Everyone who works there is super friendly and seems to like their job

Listen, skip the yogurt shop next door. It's terrible. Just for for Ice Cream at Kilwin's. There's a bunch now but this one's been here for a gazillion year and the ice cream is excellent and they'll throw together just about anything you can think of. The chocolates, on the other hand, are just okay. Go for the ice cream, get chocolates for your mom.

I know it's in a tourist section but what a ripoff!! We ordered 2 cones with 2 scoops each and it was $16!! Did the sprinkles have gold in it ?!! Also when I ordered a cone the young man behind the counter dropped the cone before putting the ice cream. He thought I didn't see it and would have continued if I didn't say anything. Really ?? Ice cream was good. Amazing ? No. Worth almost $20. Definitely not !! What a scam !

Great memories experienced here whenever family is in town visiting. The kids love this place. More than 31 flavors here with sundae options, waffle cones, etc. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. They offer a free piece of their homemade fudge when you arrive. Sometimes there is a long line, but its well worth the wait.

This Kilwin's a little more than a block away from the Ft. Lauderdale beach. Upon my visit to this location, things were booming in Ft. Lauderdale and everyone was excited to be in the general area. Listening to love music, walking on the beach, dining at local restaurants and then off to Kilwin's for some sugary confections or ice cream. Once walking up to Kilwin's I noticed a line that I thought was for the live music pit. It wasn't!! It was for Kilwin's. I had nothing else planned and really wanted ice cream so I decided to wait. I waited for about 20 minutes before being able to order and pay but it was totally worth it. I had Butter Pecan in a freshly baked waffle cone and it was GREAT. Similar to Ben & Jerry's with the large pecans in the ice cream. I would definitely visit this location again! Great job Kilwin's, great products and wonderful quality!

Can't stop eating!!!! I love the brownie chocolate icecream! It Is the best ever. My husband an I split a 2 scope cup and went to war over the last bite. I try to go to this place at least once while I'm in town.

We love Kilwin's. (We always make it a point to stop when we are in Holland, Michigan.) This location is small, but loaded with goodies! You can smell the sugar from the sidewalk. I recommend a caramel covered apple, fresh fudge, and of course standing in line for their hard ice cream!

Waaaayyy too pricey for much product. It's really heavy so make sure you don't have it as a desert right after a meal.

This place is cute. Came here with the family for some ice cream in the evening. My hubby got pistachio which was surprisingly good. It had whole pistachios and was delicious. My sis got a coffee flavored ice cream and my brother in law got dulce de leche, I just tasted a bit from everyone. Everyone seems to enjoy their ice cream. My main complaint is the price. Almost $20 for the 3 scoops of ice cream...granted one got a waffle cone, but still. Overall nice place to grab some dessert but prepare your pocketbook.

  • Sydney C.

Hands down best ice cream around. So many different flavors of ice cream and even candy. You can't forget the fudge either. Definitely will visit again.

  • John Q.

This is some of the best ice cream I have ever had. I recommend the unique salted caramel and chocolate caramel cashew flavors. There are also several cone options, including a giant waffle bowl dipped in chocolate and covered with almonds. In addition, there are various other desserts sold here, such as chocolates and candies.

I have been going to Kilwin's on Los Olas for over 30 years--usually for dessert after a meal at one of the restaurants on the Boulevard. When we came out of 101 Ocean on Commercial Boulevard we immediately went to Kilwin's about a half a block away. This Kilwin's is about twice the width of the Los Olas store and has more mementos around but, most important, their wide choices of homemade ice cream, fudges, yogurts and gelatos were the major eye catchers of the store. The young lady behind the counter offered us tastes of any fudges and ice cream flavors that we wanted--who needed to order anything? ME! As much as I love experimenting with flavors when I am faced with dozens of different flavors of ice cream I go for plain old fashioned vanilla and theirs is as smooth as it comes. I had it in a waffle cone with the top covered in chocolate which was delicious until three quarters of the way down when it became very hard and almost--almost--inedible. I had no doubt the lady who was serving me would have given me a new one without question. As far as I know Kilwin's was the first ice cream shop in Fort Lauderdale while now there seems to be a new one on every corner. About the only one that gives them competition in taste is Yo Mama's on Sunrise Lane off the Fort Lauderdale. $6.10 for an ice cream cone still gives me sticker shock but these is worth it!

Gotta give it 5 stars because it's a Michigan based company!! Go Blue!! The ice cream is great!! The chocolates and fudge are amazing!! And I love that they hire teenagers to work at their locations, they are always friendly and always have a story!!! Awesome!!!

Walking into Kilwin's made me feel like I was, quite literally, a kid in a candy shop. Caramel apples! Ice cream! FUDGE! Oh, the fudge... Watch the old men make it. Stare through the glass windows at the display of it. Hesitantly accept the cheerful saleslady's request that you sample it. Imagine buying a truckload and happily filling your house with it. Then... Remember you're on vacation at the beach. Remember the new bikini you bought for the occasion. Slowly, cautiously, eyes lowered (lest the stuffed animals filling each corner of the store capture you with their innocent, wide eyes ["Fudge! Eat more fudge!"]) back away. Proceed to ice cream section. Order ice cream (yes, you are on a beach vacation, but something about beaches + ice creams just go together). Engage in pleasant conversation with happy old men and ladies. Think of grandma and grandpa. Leave as you came- happy and carefree- except on the way out, you're six years old again, with sticky fingers and a huge grin.

I can't think of a reason to give less than five stars. A place that is dangerous for those with little will power or restraint! Good variety of flavors and international chocolate sauces. Fun to sit outside and watch the action on Commercial Ave while enjoying a treat.

My favorite ice cream place in South Florida! I am in love with their fudge and of course their ice cream is to die for. I'm obsessed with their Kilwin's Tracks ice cream in their fresh waffle cones. I especially love this location because it is only a block from the beach!

Delicious ice cream always....$20 for to sundaes is a little much but it was worth it. Maybe next time I'll get a carton from the market and save $8 bucks. Deliciosa crema de hielo siempre .... $ 20 para que los helados es un poco mucho, pero valió la pena. Quizá la próxima vez voy a conseguir una caja de cartón en el mercado y ahorrar $ 8 dólares.

Kilwins, a franchise operation based out of Michigan founded in 1947, has had a longstanding popular outlet in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. It attracts a good crowd not only during our "on season," but also during the Florida "off season," especially on leisurely Sundays afternoons. One of the keys to their popularity is the fact that as a candy confectionary most items are hand crafted fresh, made on location, not shipped in and you can watch them doing it. They have all sorts of chocolates, fudges, brittles and so forth but what I come here for are their original recipe ice creams, especially their small dish original recipe chocolate which is in fact pretty good in size for purportedly being "small dish." It's one of the best of the chocolate ice creams, rich, smooth and full flavor I've found, but I've also tried a few of the others such a an apple pie. They certainly have plenty of choices, somewhere around 80, to choose from. The thing that really sets Kilwins apart from your typical outlet is the atmosphere of the place as you can't help but get some home town family oriented feeling about the place, and nothing can be better than enjoying one of their ice creams while seated on a bench or at a table along the newly redeveloped wide sidewalks of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea with the smells and sounds of the nearby ocean.

If I had to choose one dessert place to eat at for the rest of my life, it'd be Kilwin's. I mean let's get real... they give you fudge when you walk in. Awesome flavors... large portions..... Did I mention fudge?.. I usually end up getting the cake batter or mint chocolate chip. However, I don't discriminate. I love all flavors here equally. And when it comes to the cone... "Give me waffles or give me death." No negotiations and no "cups" of ice cream here.

  • Angela E.

This place is brilliant. When you first walk in, there are so many different yummy treats to look at. My friends and I came in here primarily for the ice cream, but we ended up leaving with some extra desserts. The fudge is on the left and is definitely worth trying. If you buy 2 slices, you get a 3rd free, which is a win! I ended up buying a slice of the turtle fudge. I really wanted to buy one of everything. My next stop was the ice cream, which I absolutely love. They have a sea salt caramel ice cream that is just enough sweet, but not too sweet. However, I went with my favorite, which is the mint chocolate chip ice cream. I only ordered a single scoop on a sugar cone, but this is more than enough for one person. The service is so great here. Everyone is really friendly and helpful when it comes to making a decision on what to order. There are benches out front for you to sit outside and enjoy people watching. Compared to the other ice cream shops in the area, the prices are less expensive and good for the quality that you are getting.

Two words: free samples. People were so friendly here, even when my husband asked for 4 different samples. Must get the sea salt caramel ice cream- the best

I really enjoyed the selection here. Being lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive, I have to be very careful when visiting yummy places like this. Usually there may be one or two items I can choose that accommodate my dietary restrictions. When I asked about which desserts were gluten free (and held my breath) I was relieved (and could breathe again) when the clerk indicated that many of their desserts were gluten free just not items that had cookie or cake in the title. They had all sorts of chocolate covered nuts and fruit. And the chocolate was so rich and delectable. I ended up spending $30! Money well spent!

  • Esther L.

Place is a little expensive but it's so worth it. Flavors range from fruity to chocolaty and none are overpowering. Fudge there is delicious and they have deals on Tuesdays where it's buy one get one free. Some days they have buy two get one free. I got three bars of fudge for $17

    (4)
  • Ashlee K.

Will continue to satisfy my chocolate cravings here. They have the best homemade chocolate in town. Yummy.

    (5)
  • Jimmy G.

Ice Cream is tasty. We bought $40 of ice cream for 6 cones/cups. One immediately hit the sidewalk on the way out the store. I guess money is more important than goodwill here. After my description of the situation they said they needed five more dollars for the replacement. I'll try another of the many ice cream stores in the area next time.

  • Joanna H.

yummmmmmmm. of course I needed to get my sweet tooth fixed on my vacation. On the last day of my vacation, I ended up here and I loved it. The employees were SO KIND and offered a sample of any fudge. I sampled the chocolate PB and yesss it was very good (had a very SUGARY last taste tho..) I ended up getting the chocolate yogurt on a waffle cone. I wanted to get real icecream but I am mildly lactose intolerant so I decided to not take the risk of getting bloated and tasted by chocolate yogut. OMG! Itt tasted like chocolate icecream!! I was so happy :) It was creamy like real icecream and not too 'watery' like yogurt. The waffle cone was very delish as well, but the bottom of the cone was veryyy hard. I just wish this was softer.. the cost of my amazing sweet tooth fixer was about $5 so not bad! I wish Philadelphia had Kilwin's!

    (4)
  • Dee K.

Dominicana chocolate ice cream, delish homemade nuts, chocolates and fudge. You cannot walk by this place without the smell drawing you in. Pick up some sweets for you and a friend as they sell all kinds of gifts. I love the Cashew/dark chocolate/caramel bear claws- heaven!

    (3)
  • J T.

The staff there makes the place. I mean the ice cream is good but having it served with the smiles from Morgan, Debbie, and the other staff that worked tonight was the best. We will be back.

    (5)
  • Nick A.

follow your nose u can smell this place from a good 30 yards away i'd crusade for that cake batter & chocolate peanut butter ice cream, they were meant to be eaten side by side (still not touching the gold standard ben & jerry choc fudge brownie or b&j's chocholate therapy) prices are a little steep for ice cream and the fudge isnt that great, never tried all the other candy, as far as im concerned its an ice cream parlor only

    (4)
  • Richard S.

The only thing sweeter than the fudge and ice cream, is the cute latin guy making waffle cones in the front window on Thursdays. YUM.!!

  • Mariam D.

Temptatious display of fudge in all different shapes and sizes, caramel dripping from a fountain, rows and rows of candy apples glistening under the florescent lights, and popcorn displays that take you back in time. Sweetness is everywhere - I've had their sundaes and milkshakes and they've been delish. Oh how I do wish they made ice cream cakes!

My uncle basically dragged me here telling me and my little sis that this will be the best ice cream we ever had in our lives. I'm a fan of Cold Stone and there aren't many ice cream places that I think are better than Cold Stone. So in my head I was like, "I bet it ain't even all that." Then we went inside...and I was wrong. My uncle got a sample of fudge. He had no interest in buying fudge...just wanted to taste the toasted coconut fudge that he's had a million times. I tried the chocolate peanut butter fudge and almost creamed my undies. It was the most delicious thing I've every tatsed in my life! My sis tried the oreo fudge, which is a new flavor, and of course I insisted that sh is too little to try that whole sample by herself lol That was delicious too. On to the ice cream. They have a LOT of flavors. I sampled the Lauderdale by the Sea Mud which Dillion (adorable and friendly worker) said was the most popular. It was good. Vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips and caramel, I believe he said. But I settled on a double cake cone of Chocolate peanut butter. I'll admit, the fudge was better than the ice cream but delicious none the less. For the three of us. 2 double cake cones and one single it came up to $12.40 and it was an assload of ice cream though so that wasn't bad at all. Definitely a dIfferent atmosphere than my beloved Cold Stone but this place is awesome.

I usually try to avoid these sugar filled places because I am a health-nut with a penchant to splurge on anything sweet if I make eye contact with it. Sadly, on this day all my hard work at the gym waved 'bye bye' when I made eye contact with a caramel apple. It probably did not help at all that my date had a craving for some ice cream and considers gummy bears a meal. So both these contributing factors made my brain tell my feet to make a left turn into the store. The only way I would be saved from entering is if I was Zoolander since he cannot turn left, but I am not him so it was time to pack on the calories. One step in and you quickly realize it is sweet tooth heaven. There is fudge, candy apples, ice cream, and chocolate. It is an ocean of sweetness. Speaking of sweetness, the ladies that worked there were oh so sweet and more than accommodating with our ice cream sampling needs. I settle on my sweet tooth's soul mate, the caramel apple, and my lovvely date goes for a half and half scoop of raspberry sorbet and lemon sorbet. My dear Lord, they are awfully generous with their scoops. One scoop of half and half would be the equivalent of two scoops at Baskin Robbins. When I took a bite of my caramel apple, angels were singing. It was delicious and hit the sweet tooth spot. Unfortunately, I had to glutton it up and help her finish that truly delicious monster of an ice cream scoop. She said, "that was so large". My reply......"that's what she said." Lame jokes aside, Kilwin's is the bomb-diggity when it comes to quality, quantity, and variety of sweetness. It feel like home in there with their decor and the service is spot on. Plus, it is a great place to take a date to get dessert before....um... dessert.

What's not to like from Kilwins....Toasted Coconut Ice Cream with Hot Chocolate...Yumm!!! Their Fudge is awesome too!

    (4)
  • Allison J.

Chocolate covered rice krispie on a stick. This was probably my favorite. I was drawn in by the smell of chocolate and colorful gifts. Kids will love it here. I came here in the evening after dinner and was happy to choose several chocolates for dessert. Peppermint bark was pretty good but the chocolate potato chip was not salty enough to make me want more. Staff was "over" the tourists. Expect glorified cashier's to wait on you and not happy people who love candy.

    (3)
  • S S.

"Meh" is the right word. The service was fine. The price here is premium - but the ice cream just isn't that good compared to other premium ice creams from shops in my hometown I've had. To give an idea of the texture of ice cream, I'll compare to major brands: its definitely creamier and I think a higher fat content than Ben & Jerry's, but it is not as heavy as Haagen Dazs is. I actually liked the texture, but that isn't my issue. The flavors just aren't that good, and we tried a few. Their vanilla barely tastes like vanilla, the coffee is just okay, and the mint chocolate one isn't very mint-y. I'm sure the lines are there because its a beach vacation spot and having ice cream is part of that experience, and that's fair. If I go back to Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, and had a craving for ice cream, I'd probably go again. But this place is definitely overrated and overpriced, although I suppose that is to be expected from its location.

A little too packed (which speaks of how good they are) but love this place.

  • Pyke D.

Dear Misters Ben and Jerry: Please go back to Vermont. This is Kilwin's territory. Sincerely, Mike D. PS: I still love you. Kilwin's is so good, it's the only food place that determines my beach schedule. There's few pleasures in life as good as a waffle cone after a day sitting on the sand. There's a ton of flavors, ranging from the basic to the unique, so no matter what your taste there will be something that hits the spot (for me, it's a turtle waffle cone). Unless you hate iced cream, in which case you should get that checked out by a doctor. The chocolatier, on the other side off the store, is just as awesome. Chocolate covered pretzels, barks, malt balls, and just about anything you can think of, they've got. It's not cheap, but with chocolate like most things, you pay for quality. And quality is what Kilwin's has.

    (4)
  • Lourdes W.

This is a chocolate lover's heaven. I didn't know such a place existed where you can find chocolate covered ANYTHING!!I'm talking twinkies, oreos, apples, strawberries, graham crackers,...etc. There are so many slabs of fudge to try and an ice cream shop with more than 30 flavors to choose from. The only thing missing from this slice of heaven are cherubs singing as you enter.

    (5)
  • Annie A.

I've only had the ice cream here and I love it. What's even better is that there's a plethora of tourists and you can sit down on the bench while you eat your treat and watch them go by. It's like the zoo but doesn't stink.

This place was pretty good overall in spite of a really weird experience I had here. I ordered a milkshake and it took the girl over five minutes to make that puppy. When she was done she poured the milkshake from the blender to a cup and then took all the leftovers from the blender into the back and ate it! This was before she gave me my completed milk shake and before she helped the other two people I was with. Her manager came up to us and asked us if we had been helped, I didn't want to be a snitch so I said yes and didn't mention that. The girl then came out from the back still chewing and drinking MY leftover shake put the lid on my real shake and then handed it to me like nothing happened. WTF. Other then that the milkshake was good even though it pummeled my stomach. The ladies got waffle cones which were also good. This place is also a huge chocalitier and the offer all kinds of chocalates if your in the mood.

Toasted coconut ice cream. Great service. Free samples. Pricey, perhaps, but awesome. Will return.

The best fudge in South Florida. At this location, they also give you unlimited samples. They also have a buy 2 slabs and get the third one free. I tried the Plain Chocolate, Turtle, Peanut Butter and the Oreo Cookie. I thought the plain chocolate was the best and it didn't dry out after a few days.
